Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council was established in the year 1956. Earlier the name of the council was “Mahakoshal Nurses Registration Council”. Which included Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh till the year 2005. After this, the name of the council has been changed by the state government from 18.5.2012 to “Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council Bhopal”. At present there is Madhya Pradesh Nursing Registration Council Act 1973. From 1956 to 1980, only 56 educational institutions were operating. Most of which are from Government School/College of Nursing and A.N.M. There were training centres. The number of nursing schools/colleges in the state is increasing at a rapid pace. At present, more than 450 nursing schools/colleges are running under the council.

Various courses like A.N.M. are offered in 450 nursing schools/colleges under Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council. /G.N.M. /B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing/M.Sc. Nursing courses are conducted. Apart from government institutions, GNM and ANM training centres, both men and women are eligible for admission in private nursing institutions and employment opportunities are also available in private and domestic institutions. The government has started 05 new government nursing colleges in the state in the year 2018-19. In Government Nursing College, Indore, in the year 2018-19, 50 seats of B.Sc have been increased by 70 seats to 120 seats. Recognition has been granted to 40 new seats of Post Basic B.Sc. 10 seats of M.Sc were increased by 40 seats to 50 seats. 07 Government GNM School has been upgraded into B.Sc Nursing College. GN of 06 ANM schools.
